Ophelia's wrath caused road flooding and heightened worries about beach erosion along the Jersey Shore.

As the storm hit, the gusty winds echoed its intensity. Several streets in Sea Isle City showed signs of flooding, with some experiencing minor waterlogging while others were submerged.

Residents are vigilantly monitoring the situation to prevent any potential water damage to their homes.

While some vehicles managed to drive through the flooded streets, many routes remained blocked. Due to high water levels, Sea Isle City police closed the Townsends Inlet Bridge, particularly on the Avalon side, with visible waves engulfing the roadway.

The storm's fury was evident at the beach, with aggressive waves challenging the shoreline. Residents observed the unusual closeness of the waves to the dunes, contrasting it to the usual high tide distance.

Power disruptions were also an issue, with around 11,000 homes reported without electricity by Atlantic City Electric.

Lower Moreland Pickleball Updates

During their monthly meeting in May 2023, The Board of Commissioners approved the permanent shutdown of the Lower Moreland Park pickleball courts.

They directed the staff to propose alternative sites for upcoming discussions. Meanwhile, the Red Lion Gym has temporarily accommodated pickleball enthusiasts with two courts.

By August 2023, the former pickleball courts at Lower Moreland Park transitioned back to tennis courts, which are now accessible. Plans are progressing for new pickleball courts, with paving and coating bids set for the upcoming fall.

Harper's Heroics Propel Phils to Victory Over Mets

Bryce Harper was the catalyst for the Phillies' turnaround, hitting his 20th home run of the season, as they bested the New York Mets 7-5 on Saturday, marking their fourth consecutive win.

Harper was instrumental with three RBIs for the Phillies (86-69), the reigning NL champions inching closer to an NL wild card spot. Another significant contribution came from Alec Bohm with a home run, giving the Phillies a substantial lead over Arizona in the wild card race.

A win on Sunday, coupled with a loss from either the Chicago Cubs or Miami Marlins, will secure a playoff spot for Philadelphia. It's worth noting that the Phillies haven't had back-to-back playoff appearances since their five-year run from 2007-2011.

Tampa Bay Bucs vs Philadelphia Eagles: Injury Report for Monday Night

The Buccaneers face uncertainties ahead of their game against the Eagles. Key players like Devin White, Vita Vea, Carlton Davis, and Cody Mauch are questionable. White's groin injury and Vea's pectoral concern are particularly noteworthy. Davis, if playing, will face off against A.J. Brown, despite lingering turf toe issues.

For the Eagles, they'll miss Quez Watkins and Boston Scott. However, Kenneth Gainwell is likely to return, joining D’Andre Swift. DeVonta Smith, despite a hamstring/thigh concern, is set to play, but his injury may affect his speed and performance.
