Centennial School District Monitors Anonymous Bomb Threats Targeting Various Local Areas.

Close by in Warminster, The Centennial School District is currently monitoring a series of recent bomb threats made anonymously across the state. Superintendent Dana Bedden assured families that none of these threats have been deemed credible at this time. However, the district remains vigilant in light of the situation.

Neighboring school districts in Bucks and Montgomery counties had received emails claiming there were bombs in their buildings. Similar emails were sent to schools across the state and country but were ultimately classified as non-credible threats by the Pennsylvania Criminal Intelligence Center (PaCIC).

To date, the Centennial School District itself has not received any direct threats. Bedden emphasized the district's commitment to the safety of its students, stating that in the event of any threats, they would follow established safety and security procedures, immediately reporting the situation to the police, even if the email is suspected to be a swatting tactic.

Swatting is the act of falsely reporting an emergency to prompt a SWAT team response to a location where no actual emergency exists.

Lower Moreland Township and Bryn Athyn Borough honored with the 2023 Governor’s Award

L.M. and B.A. have been honored with the 2023 Governor’s Award for Local Government Excellence in the Intergovernmental Cooperation category.

This annual recognition, in partnership with the Department of Community & Economic Development, celebrates exceptional initiatives in addressing various local challenges and objectives. Over the past several years, the two municipalities have collaborated to establish a comprehensive plan for the future of fire and emergency services. This endeavor culminated in January 2023 with the unanimous approval of an intergovernmental cooperation agreement, resulting in the creation of the Office of the Chief of Emergency Services.

Following an application and interview process conducted throughout the summer, the Chief of Emergency Services for Lower Moreland and Bryn Athyn is expected to assume their role in the next few weeks. They eagerly anticipate introducing the selected candidate to the community in the near future.

When will Huntingdon Valley get it’s first snowfall?

The Farmers' Almanac is predicting a colder, more active winter for our region. Huntingdon Valley’s first snowflakes of the 2023-2024 winter season are approaching, following a basically snowless winter in 2022-2023. These inaugural flakes could arrive in just over a month (like October, 2018) but that has been rare - it’s more likely in mid November.

To gauge the likelihood of this occurrence, we researched the first snowfall dates over the past few years in Huntingdon Valley, drawing data from WeatherUnderground.com, jcweather.com, and CertifiedSnowTotals.com. Here are some key findings:

  • Winter of 2022 - 2023: First Snowfall on November 18, 2022.

  • Winter of 2021 - 2022: First Snowfall on December 27, 2021.

  • Winter of 2020 - 2021: First Snowfall on December 9, 2020.

  • Winter of 2019 - 2020: First Snowfall on November 12, 2019.

Eagles continue their winning streak to 3-0 with a commanding victory over Tampa Bay.

Last night, it was the Eagles' formidable defensive line that stole the spotlight.

Eagles' General Manager, Howie Roseman, has a clear preference for players who are big, strong, and aggressive, and the team boasts an abundance of such talent on both the offensive and defensive fronts.

During Monday night's game, the Eagles' defense delivered a stellar performance, contributing significantly to their 25-11 triumph over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

This victory extended Philadelphia's record to an impressive 3-0. The Eagles' defense effectively thwarted nearly every offensive strategy the Buccaneers attempted. They shut down the run game entirely, forcing the Buccaneers into challenging second-and-long and third-and-long situations throughout the match.

Tampa Bay managed just 174 yards in total offense, with less than 100 yards gained before mounting a 75-yard drive in the fourth quarter, which occurred after the game's outcome had already been determined. The Buccaneers averaged a mere 2.4 yards per rush and had limited success through the air.

While Philadelphia boasts numerous stars and playmakers, their success truly begins in the trenches, with the dominance of both their offensive and defensive lines playing a pivotal role.

One week remaining in the 2023 MLB regular season, Phils get set for post season.

Several teams are setting their sights on the postseason. Earlier in the month, the Atlanta Braves secured a playoff berth and clinched the NL East title. The Los Angeles Dodgers also punched their ticket to the playoffs by winning the NL West.

Shortly thereafter, the Baltimore Orioles and Tampa Bay Rays, locked in a battle for the AL East title, secured their places in October.

Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Phillies, Seattle Mariners, and Chicago Cubs are in contention for the remaining wild-card spots.

While other wild-card races are expected to go down to the wire, The Phillies have firmly secured the NL's top spot. This advantageous position sets them up to kick off the postseason with a home game.
