Happy 109th to Montgomery County’s oldest resident

Caroline Mary Merrill, Montgomery County's oldest resident, celebrated her 109th birthday, coinciding with Philadelphia's 341st anniversary. A community pillar, she's known for her extensive service, from nursing to running a daycare. Living energetically with travel and exercise, even past 100, Mrs. Merrill credits her longevity to divine support and a loving approach to life. Her milestone sparked widespread admiration and celebration in her community.

Tesla Dealership: Coming to Area

Tesla is approaching the completion of its first dealership in Bucks County, set to open by year-end. The former Pathmark site on York Road is transforming into a 56,000-square-foot service center and showroom. The $6-8 million project will create 30-40 jobs and operate extensive weekday hours, with reduced hours on Saturday and closure on Sundays.

The facility features a service area, an alignment center, a showroom, a car wash, and a repair garage with 18 lifts. All purchases and services are by appointment only, emphasizing Tesla's innovative, eco-friendly approach under CEO Elon Musk.

Philly: Ranking Best City to Visit

Philadelphia has been recognized as the premier city to visit in the U.S. and one of the top global destinations, according to a leading travel authority.

The Philadelphia Art Museum buzzes with life on Friday nights, attracting everyone from first-time tourists to regular visitors. Attractions such as the Liberty Bell continue to draw in tourists, while regulars praise the city's unique charm.

Senior editor at Lonely Planet, Melissa Yeager, attributes Philadelphia's allure to its dynamic atmosphere, burgeoning cultural sites, and renowned culinary landscape, with spots like the historic Reading Terminal Market amplifying its appeal.

Lonely Planet ranks Philadelphia fifth among the world's top cities for travelers, marking it as the highest-rated destination in the U.S. This acclaim is supported by statistics from Visit Philadelphia, which reported over 24 million visitors flooding into this World Heritage City in 2022, injecting nearly $4 billion into the local economy.

🟢 Eagles

In an electric showdown at FedEx Field, the Eagles clinched a thrilling 38-31 victory over the Washington Commanders, marking a clean sweep in their season series, much to the delight of traveling fans.

Jalen Hurts was on fire, launching four touchdown passes, while A.J. Brown reeled in two. However, it was Reed Blankenship's game-shifting interception that really turned the tides in Philadelphia's favor. Head Coach Nick Sirianni acknowledged the gritty nature of the win.

🟠 Flyers

Flyers Reap Rewards from a Revitalized Travis Sanheim. Before the season kicked off, Sanheim secured a substantial eight-year contract with Philadelphia, with an annual cost of $6.25 million. While this figure represents a reasonable deal for a competent defenseman, it's less justifiable for a player facing challenges in meeting expectations. Perhaps the pressure stemming from his new contract was a contributing factor, but Sanheim's performance hasn't quite matched his $6.25 million annual valuation so far.

🔵 Sixers

James Harden remained sidelined for the 76ers, while Joel Embiid, the current NBA MVP, chose to forego rest, making his presence felt in Philadelphia's home opener on Sunday night.

Harden's non-participation against Portland was anticipated, as the seasoned All-Star has been absent from all three games following his request for a trade during the offseason. The Sixers' official stance is that Harden requires additional time to enhance his physical fitness before rejoining active play.
