Burglary Alert Issued in Rydal / Abington, Police Increase Patrols

The Abington Police Department has issued a burglary alert following a break-in at a home on Kingsley Road in Rydal, which occurred in the early hours of Thursday, December 28. Officers responded to a residential security alarm and discovered an unoccupied home with a second-story window pried open. It's believed that jewelry was stolen during the incident.

Further investigation revealed a strikingly similar attempted burglary in the same neighborhood back in August. Given these parallels, the Abington Police Department is urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

Detective Andrew Ammaturo is handling the investigation, and the department encourages anyone with information to contact him at [email protected] or call 267-536-1277.

Abington Fire Company Mourns Passing of 101-Year-Old Veteran Member

Meadowbrook resident Harle Hathaway "Buster" Brooks, a dedicated member of the Abington Fire Company, passed away at the age of 101. His long-standing commitment to the fire company began in April 1957, where he served as Assistant Chief for seven years and continued to attend monthly meetings well into his late 90s.

His personal life was equally rich, having met his wife, Blanche Krapf Brooks, when she was 14 and he was 16. The couple remained together until her passing in 1987. Brooks leaves behind a large and loving family, including 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

A Masonic Service for Brooks will be held at 10:00 am, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 am today, Friday, December 29, at the Abington Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Abington Township Fire Department at 1176 Old York Road, Abington Township.

🏈 Eagles

Key stats and trends in the upcoming Eagles vs. Cardinals game:

  1. Cardinals' Pass Defense: Arizona ranks 12th in the NFL, allowing an average of 216 passing yards per game. This presents an interesting challenge for the Eagles' passing attack.

  2. Eagles' Quarterback Jalen Hurts: He faces a Cardinals defense that is currently the worst in the NFL against the run, surrendering 147 rushing yards per game. This could be an opportunity for Hurts to exploit, given his dual-threat capabilities.

  3. Eagles' Passing Offense and Defense: Philadelphia is averaging 232.3 passing yards per game, placing them 14th in the league. Conversely, their defense is 27th in the league, allowing 250.8 passing yards per game.

  4. Eagles' Rushing Stats: Offensively, the Eagles are strong in the run game, averaging 131.1 rushing yards per game, which is the sixth-best in the NFL. Defensively, they are also solid against the run, allowing only 95.2 rushing yards per game, ranking eighth.

  5. Overall Yards Per Play: The Eagles are averaging 5.6 yards per play on offense, ranking them 12th in the league. Defensively, they also allow 5.6 yards per play, placing them 19th in the NFL.
