Lower Moreland High School's Grand Opening: A Glimpse into Modern Education

The long-awaited new Lower Moreland High School is finally opening its doors to the public, marking a significant milestone for the community. Located at 545 Red Lion Road, the school is set to welcome visitors with special guided tours, offering a firsthand look at the state-of-the-art educational facility.

Three open house events have been scheduled to showcase the new school. The first event will be held from noon to 4 p.m. on February 3, followed by an evening tour from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on February 7, and another afternoon session from noon to 4 p.m. on February 10. These events present an exciting opportunity for the community to explore the new high school and understand the advancements it brings to the district's educational landscape.

The initiative to build a new high school was sparked in 2018 when two of the district's three existing buildings were nearing their maximum capacity. This situation highlighted the need for additional educational space to accommodate the growing student population. Since then, the design and construction process has been ongoing, culminating in the completion of this modern educational facility. The open houses are not just a celebration of the new building, but also a reflection of the district's commitment to providing quality education and adequate facilities for its students.

Tragic Neighborhood Loud Snoring Conflict Escalates to Homicide in Upper Moreland

In Upper Moreland Township, a tragic incident has led to the charge of third-degree murder against 55-year-old Christopher Casey. The Hatboro resident is accused of the fatal stabbing of his neighbor, 62-year-old Robert Wallace, on Sunday, January 15. The Montgomery County District Attorney's office reports that the Upper Moreland Township Police responded to a 911 call from Casey's residence at 301 Fitch Road, where they found Wallace with stab wounds approximately 50 feet from the house. Wallace was transported to Abington Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The conflict between Casey and Wallace reportedly stemmed from ongoing disputes, including issues related to Casey's loud snoring, audible through the shared wall of their residences. The fatal encounter occurred when Wallace approached Casey at his home during dinner, leading to a verbal altercation and subsequent stabbing by Casey using a large, military-style knife. Evidence, including the weapon, was found at the scene by Upper Moreland police.

Forensic Pathologist Dr. Ian Hood conducted an autopsy on Wallace, confirming the cause of death as multiple stab wounds and ruling it a homicide. Casey, who also sustained a stab wound, was arrested on January 18 and faces charges of third-degree murder, voluntary manslaughter, and possessing an instrument of crime. He was arraigned with bail set at $1 million cash, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 29. Assistant District Attorney Allison M. Ruth will prosecute the case.

TODAY is… National Cheese Lover’s Day. Get ready to ‘havarti’ a ‘gouda’ time. It was love at first bite; when the first human tasted the salty, tangy, delicious goodness of cheese, they were hooked. And we can definitively say that human history was forever changed. Cheese might have had mysterious beginnings over 7,000 years ago, but it’s insanely popular today. In the U.S, one-third of all milk produced in this country goes into cheese production.
