In a remarkable achievement for Lower Moreland High School, junior twins Hannah and Rebecca Kideckel have been honored as the Reporter/Times Herald/Montgomery Media 2023 Girls Tennis Athletes of the Year. Their outstanding performances in the fall tennis season, particularly in singles play during the regular season and as a team in league, district, and state playoffs, culminated in a triumphant win at the PIAA-2A state finals.

The Kideckels' synergy on the court was a key factor in their success. They continually motivated and supported each other, especially in challenging moments, maintaining a positive attitude throughout their matches. This dynamic teamwork led them to an impressive streak of nine consecutive wins.

Their excellence was further acknowledged with their inclusion in the All-Area First Team. Fellow Lower Moreland players Abigail Yanovitsky and Anya Yang also received accolades, being named to the Second Team and Honorable Mention list, respectively.

GoFundMe Launched for Abington Teacher's Family Following House Fire

In a devastating turn of events, Mr. Paul Sharp, a beloved science teacher at Abington Middle School and an alumnus of the same, suffered a significant loss as his home was engulfed in a fire on Monday, January 22. The fire, which occurred in Chalfont where Mr. Sharp resides with his family of six, fortunately resulted in no injuries.

In response to this tragedy, the Abington School District has taken a step forward to support Mr. Sharp and his family during this challenging time. A GoFundMe campaign has been initiated to provide financial assistance and aid in their recovery. This gesture offers a way for the community and those who wish to help to contribute towards the family’s needs as they navigate through this difficult period.

The family, deeply rooted in the Abington community, now faces a period of displacement as they begin the process of rebuilding their lives after the fire. The campaign aims to alleviate some of the burdens they face and underscores the spirit of community support.
