Farewell Tribute for Detective Halota Marks End of an Era at LMPD

The Lower Moreland Police Department recently celebrated the retirement of Detective Holly Halota, marking the end of her distinguished career. Detective Halota, who commenced her service on August 14, 1996, leaves behind a legacy of significant contributions and dedication to law enforcement.

One of her notable achievements includes leading a complex, multi-jurisdictional investigation into a series of church burglaries that began in February 2020. In collaboration with Sgt. Ryan Duntzee of the Abington Township Police Department, their efforts culminated in a successful conviction in December 2021, earning her special recognition from Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele for her "tireless coordination."

Earlier in her career, as Officer Halverson, she made headlines in 2002 by dismantling a multistate drug distribution network. Her initiative during a routine DUI stop led to the discovery of a significant drug operation, resulting in the seizure of substantial amounts of cash and Quaaludes, along with the arrests of 17 individuals involved in drug trafficking. This operation eventually led to the arrest of the ring's suspected leader by the D.E.A. in New York.

As she embarks on her next chapter, the Lower Moreland Police Department extends their best wishes for her future endeavors, acknowledging that her impact on the community and law enforcement will be long remembered.
