Upper Moreland Township to Launch Police Station Construction and Public Space Revamp

Upper Moreland Township is gearing up to enhance its community infrastructure with two significant projects set to commence this summer. The township plans to initiate the construction of a new, modern police station while also undertaking improvements to a public space at the corner of Davisville and York roads.

In a strategic move to upgrade its public safety facilities, the township has secured $2,850,000 in state grant funding towards the renovation of the existing police and township administration buildings. The ambitious project, estimated to cost between $13 to $15 million, aims to establish a separate, state-of-the-art police station on the same premises. According to Township Manager Matthew Candland, the construction costs are subject to current market fluctuations, but the township is optimistic about beginning the project this summer, with a completion timeline of 12-18 months post-initiation.

Concurrently, Upper Moreland officials are focused on revitalizing the intersection of Davisville and York roads by transforming a currently underutilized parking area into an improved public amenity space. The township, which owns the corner plot, is in the process of approving engineering plans for the project, with the goal of starting enhancements this summer.

These developments underscore Upper Moreland Township's commitment to bolstering its community infrastructure and public amenities, promising improved services and aesthetics for its residents.
