Junior standout Briana Mcferran nearly achieved a triple-double, showcasing her skill with 25 points, nine rebounds, and nine steals, a testament to her defensive prowess in recent games. President’s Day: Today, various services and institutions will have adjusted schedules in observance of this federal holiday. Here's a summary of what to expect regarding openings and closures:

Banks

  • Closed: As Presidents Day is a bank holiday in the Federal Reserve system, most banks will not be open.

  • Exceptions: TD Bank will remain open, and online banking services as well as ATMs will continue to be available for use.

Stock Exchanges

  • Closed: Both the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and NASDAQ will not operate on Presidents Day.

USPS and Shipping Services

  • USPS: The United States Postal Service will be closed, and no residential or business mail will be delivered on Presidents Day.

  • UPS and FedEx: UPS services, FedEx Ground, and FedEx Home Delivery will operate as usual, despite the federal holiday.

Government Agencies and Schools

  • Government Offices: Nonessential federal, state, county, and city government offices will be closed. This includes departments like the DMV, public libraries, courthouses, and city halls.

  • Courts: Federal and state courts will also take a day off.

  • Schools: Most public schools will be closed in observance of Presidents Day.

Retail and Restaurants

  • Open: The majority of retail stores and restaurants will remain open. It is always a good idea to check with specific local businesses for their holiday hours.

  • Big Box Stores: Major retailers such as Walmart, Target, and Costco will be open, as well as most supermarkets.

Presidents Day serves as a tribute to the United States' presidents, particularly George Washington, whose birthday the holiday was originally established to honor. While it's a day off for many workers and an opportunity for special sales in the retail sector, essential services like shipping (excluding USPS) will remain operational. It's advisable to plan ahead for banking needs and government services due to closures on this day.

Presidents' Day is indeed a unique American holiday that honors the leadership and legacy of past presidents of the United States. Originally established to celebrate George Washington's birthday (February 22), the day has evolved to honor all U.S. presidents, though Abraham Lincoln, whose birthday is also in February (February 12), is often specifically celebrated alongside Washington.
