New Online Tool Launched to Assist PA's Property Tax/Rent Rebate Applicants

The Pennsylvania Department of Revenue, in collaboration with the Commonwealth Office of Digital Experience (CODE PA), has introduced an innovative online tool designed to assist applicants of the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program (PTRR) in finding in-person support within their communities. This user-friendly platform enables older Pennsylvanians and individuals with disabilities, who are the primary beneficiaries of the PTRR program, to simply input their zip code and locate nearby assistance for filing their rebate applications.

Secretary of Revenue Pat Browne highlighted the importance of this tool in facilitating access to support for PTRR applicants, aligning with Governor Shapiro's vision of a collaborative network dedicated to ensuring accurate filing of applications. The recent expansion of the PTRR program, championed by Governor Shapiro, now extends its benefits to nearly 175,000 additional Pennsylvanians. This expansion includes an increase in the maximum rebate for seniors from $650 to $1,000 and an elevation of the income cap for renters and homeowners to $45,000 annually, with adjustments for the cost of living to protect beneficiaries from losing eligibility due to increases in Social Security payments.

Bry Pardoe, Executive Director of CODE PA, emphasized the tool's role in providing a straightforward method for those in need to access vital face-to-face customer support. This development reflects Governor Shapiro's commitment to enhancing Pennsylvanians' ability to connect with essential state resources.

The PTRR program is aimed at supporting eligible Pennsylvanians aged 65 and older, widows and widowers aged 50 and older, and people with disabilities aged 18 and older. Applicants have until June 30, 2024, to apply for a rebate under this program.
