Quick Response Reopens Old York Road After Vehicle Crashes into Barber Shop

Old York Road, a major thoroughfare in Abington, has been reopened following an earlier closure caused by a vehicle crashing into Fades & Blades, a local barber shop located at 1729 Old York Road. The incident prompted a swift response from emergency services, including the Weldon Fire Company in Glenside, which played a crucial role in the rescue operations.

The Weldon Fire Company, alongside the Abington Fire Company, Roslyn Fire Company, Abington Police, and the PA Second Alarmer’s Association and Rescue Squad of Montgomery County, were all present at the scene to manage the situation. According to updates shared on social media by the Weldon Fire Company, their Rescue 300 crew was instrumental in stabilizing the structure and aiding in the patient extrication process. The crew employed power struts to secure the front of the barber shop and ensure the safety of both the occupants and the rescue team.

The incident caused temporary disruptions along Old York Road, from Roy Avenue to Old Welsh Road, as emergency crews worked diligently to address the aftermath of the crash. Thankfully, the roadway has since been cleared and normal traffic flow has resumed.

This event highlights the quick and coordinated efforts of local emergency services in responding to unexpected accidents and ensuring public safety. The community expresses its gratitude towards all the first responders who contributed to the swift resolution of this incident.

Join the Upper Moreland Team + U.M.'s Unified Sports Makes a Splash for Special Olympics

The Upper Moreland School District is actively seeking to fill a variety of positions across its schools, catering to a broad spectrum of professional skills and expertise. The openings range from teaching roles, such as a Kindergarten Teacher and a General Science Secondary Teacher, to specialized positions like a Payroll Specialist, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, and a Counselor.

Additionally, there are openings for a Speech and Language Pathologist, an Elementary School Long Term Substitute Emotional Support Teacher, and a Long-term Substitute Elementary Autistic Support Teacher for grades 3-5. Support roles are also available, including a Non-Instructional Assistant for lunch and recess duties at the Primary School, as well as Substitute Bus Driver positions, athletic coaches, paraprofessionals, and custodians. These vacancies present an excellent opportunity for professionals looking to make a positive impact in the educational sector.

Moreover, the district has announced that kindergarten registration is now open, inviting parents and guardians to enroll their children for the upcoming academic year. This marks an important step for families in the Upper Moreland community, preparing for their children's educational journey.

In another commendable initiative, the district's Unified Sports Program made a significant contribution to the Special Olympics of Pennsylvania through its Polar Bear Plunge event. Held last month at Citizens Bank Park, the event saw Unified Sports students and staff join forces with schools from across the state, raising over $3,800. This effort not only supports the Special Olympics but also raises awareness of the Unified Champion Schools program, which fosters inclusive sports and activities for students.

These developments highlight the Upper Moreland School District's commitment to enhancing educational opportunities, supporting meaningful causes, and strengthening its workforce to benefit both students and the broader community.

Eagles icon and one of the NFL's greatest centers, Jason Kelce, has announced his retirement after a distinguished 13-season career. His announcement, delivered with heartfelt emotion on Monday afternoon, was a poetic tribute to his remarkable journey in football.

Kelce, visibly moved and initially struggling to speak, began his announcement by reminiscing about his early football days in middle school. He shared a vivid memory, "Whenever I smell the clippings of fresh grass, I am brought back to this day," capturing the deep emotional connection he has with the game.

His retirement news was shared during a press conference at the Eagles' NovaCare Complex in south Philadelphia, attended by his family — his mother Donna, his wife Kylie, and his brother Travis — as well as Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni and other members of the team's leadership. Kelce's departure marks the end of an era for the Eagles, celebrating a career that was as impactful off the field as it was on it.

Currently known as Dissociative Identity Disorder, Multiple Personality Disorder is a relatively new condition that psychiatrists are still learning about. It often goes undiagnosed among the general population. For those diagnosed with it, however, it can be a terrifying experience accompanied by unreliable mood swings and self-distrust. Multiple Personality Day aims to change those fears by spreading awareness of its existence, helping patients and their families with resources and methods to cope. Some observe this day by connecting with the many sides of their personality.
