Heavy Rains to Hit H.V., Montgomery County Under Flood Watch

Huntingdon Valley is on alert with a Flood Watch issued in anticipation of significant rainfall expected to start tonight and persist into the weekend. According to the National Weather Service, the area could see an impressive total of 2-4 inches of rain, with the most intense downpours forecasted for late Saturday morning through the afternoon. The Philadelphia metro area is projected to experience the brunt of these rainfall totals.

The NWS has updated its forecast, noting a marked increase in rainfall predictions along the I-95 corridor, and has expressed heightened concern for the possibility of river flooding. The advisory, shared in a Facebook post, also warns of additional hazards accompanying the storm, including gusty winds, coastal flooding, and perilous conditions for marine activities. The NWS has outlined the primary concerns and potential impacts in a detailed matrix, advising residents to stay informed and prepared.

Elkins Park Woman and Accomplice Found Guilty in Cheltenham Murder Case

Two individuals, Caleb James-Lorenze Simpson, aged 35, and Zackery Maximus Tucker, aged 22, were apprehended following their involvement in a robbery and assault at a comic book store in Feasterville, Pennsylvania. The incident, which took place on September 18, 2022, was recently detailed by the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office in a news release. Posing as customers, Simpson and Tucker requested assistance from the store owner for an item on a high shelf. In a shocking turn of events, the owner was forcefully knocked off a ladder by one of the suspects and suffered a fall.

According to official statements, the attackers proceeded to physically assault the owner, binding him and threatening his life with a knife to ensure his compliance. The culprits then filled two duffel bags with various items, including a laptop, the owner's keys, cash, comic books, Pokémon cards, and action figures, among others. Their attempt to flee with the stolen goods led to a police pursuit, during which they abandoned the bags in a nearby wooded area. Subsequent police search efforts uncovered clothing believed to be owned by one of the assailants.

The violent robbery resulted in the store owner sustaining numerous injuries, including contusions, lacerations, and broken ribs. The breakthrough in the case came on December 19, 2023, when a tip-off implicated two truckers in the crime. Surveillance footage and DNA evidence collected from the scene eventually led to the identification of Tucker and Simpson as the perpetrators. As of March 18, Tucker has been charged with robbery, aggravated assault, unlawful restraint, among other offenses. Communication attempts with Tucker's legal representation have yet to yield a response, while Simpson's attorney details remain unrecorded in court documents.

Feasterville Comic Store Owner Assaulted in Violent Robbery, Suspects Charged

Two men have been arrested after officials said they robbed a comic book store and assaulted the owner. On Sept. 18, 2022, two men, later identified as Caleb James-Lorenze Simpson, 35, and Zackery Maximus Tucker, 22, entered a comic book store in Feasterville, Pennsylvania, according to a news release from the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office.

The men acted as if they were customers and asked the store owner to help them get an item from a high shelf. While the owner was on a ladder, one of the men “violently” knocked him off and he fell to the ground, officials said. The two males began to beat the victim, then tied him up and held a knife to his face threatening to kill him if he did not cooperate,” officials said.

Simpson and Tucker then pulled out two duffel bags and filled them with a laptop, the owner’s keys, cash, comic books, Pokémon cards, action figures and other items from the store, officials said. Officials said that while police were pursuing the men, they left the bags nearby in the woods. While searching the area, police found clothing believed to belong to one of the men, according to officials. The store owner suffered from “numerous contusions, lacerations, and broken ribs,” officials said.

On Dec. 19. 2023, officers received a tip that two truckers were responsible for the attack and robbery. Authorities identified Tucker and Simpson as the two men seen in surveillance footage, officials said. DNA collected at the scene also came back as a match to Simpson, according to investigators.

An attorney for Simpson was not listed in court records. Tucker was arraigned March 18 on charges of robbery, aggravated assault, unlawful restraint, possession of an instrument of crime, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

Prepare yourselves for an overdose of cuteness, because March 23 is National Puppy Day! Established in 2006, National Puppy Day is a paw-some day for all dog enthusiasts to celebrate unconditional love and fawn over the undeniably cute furballs that bring so much happiness into this world. While we’re all softies when it comes to our four-legged friends, today is also designed to raise awareness about puppy mills and help prospective pet owners consider adoption.

Every March 24 America pays tribute to one of the all-time classic sandwiches — the cheesesteak. Much like national liberty itself, the cheesesteak is elegant, necessary, pure, and was born in Philadelphia. The cheesesteak rose from humble beginnings in South Philly to the cultural icon it is today: safely secure in the sandwich hall of fame. “Eat (ahem, read) on to celebrate National Cheesesteak Day.”
